The Workers Working the
Works-Community Development Corporation
The
Workers Working the Works –Community Development Corporation (WWTW-CDC)
is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization through the Mt. Airy Baptist
Church. This organization serves the West Oak Lane/Mt. Airy
communities.
The
major reason the WWTW-CDC was out of concern for the community’s
lack of basic needs for adequate food, clothing, housing, and
educational services.
The
WWTW-CDC was created to be a charitable organization dedicated to
meeting those needs.
The
CDC serves the community that comprises the residents of the
19138, 19144, and 19150 zip codes. As we strive to create greater
empowerment for the citizens of the community served by the
WWTW-CDC, we believe it is vital that a safe and secure housing
facility be provided to our seniors and comprehensive programs be
housed within it.
To
this end, WWTW-CDC plans to demolish six existing properties and a
vacant lot to construct a low income Retirement Complex and Family
Life Center. This facility will have a multigenerational impact
by providing a safe home and recreational activities for the
seniors, training and counseling facilities for youth, as well as
a gymnasium to keep them off the streets.
