Please pay attention to the following directives and/or guidelines for a smooth and safe child care experience.

Payment of FEES
All fees for students MUST be paid on Mondays.  If you have not paid by Tuesday Morning, the Center staff will not accept your child.  Also, if your child is in the SACC (School Age Child Care) program and the fee is not paid, please be aware that your child will not be picked up from Rowen School on Tuesday.  Your child will remain in the Rowen School office until he/she is picked up by you.  If you wish, you may pay bi-monthly or monthly as long as it is paid prior to the week of the child's attendance.  All fee envelopes must contain the correct amount of money (cash or money order only) in order to keep accurate records.  We have no feasible way of giving you change.

Lateness
Day Care Children must be in school every day before 9:30 a.m.  If your child has a medical appointment, please inform the teacher the day before the lateness is to occur.  No child will be admitted after 9:30 a.m.

Pick-Up
Please remember these important points.  Our Center is opened from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m.  Late fee is $5.00 for every 5 minutes you are late and must be paid to the staff person on duty.  I encourage you to arrive by 5:55 p.m. (See note on front door).  Call the Center to inform staff when someone other than the person identified will come for your child because of lateness.  That person must have identification.  If you are aware of extended lateness other than a few minutes, please call the Center.

Illness of Children
Please call the Center if your child is ill and will be absent for a day or longer.  If your child has a temperature or a consistent cough, do not send him/her to school.  Let us be considerate of the other children and staff.  Fee must be paid on the day your child returns to school.  There is no reduction in fee because of a sick day or because you are home from work.  For an extended illness (a week or more), a doctor's note is required before the child is admitted.

Breakfast or Morning Snacks
Children may not eat breakfast in school or continue to eat snacks which they began in the car.  Day Care children have snack time at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.  SACC children have snacks in the afternoon.

Show and Tell Day
Friday of each week is Show and Tell Day.  On that day your children may bring a toy or game to share with their friends.  Please do not send an expensive, delicate game which might be easily broken.

Birthday Parties
You may celebrate your child's birthday here at the Center with either store bought cookies or cupcakes and ice cream.  Inform your child's teacher the week before their birthday is to be celebrated.  Any items brought in for a party must be purchased from a bakery or store.  Sorry, no homemade treats.

Lunch Time
Children will not be accepted any day without their lunch.  You may not leave the child while you shop for lunch.  (In case of an emergency and you do not get back, your child is then left without any lunch).  We are not equipped for warming food for lunch.  Please use a thermos to keep food warm, and tell the teacher so the lunch box will not be placed in the refrigerator.  Please see that your child has a well balanced lunch.  Fruit and healthy snacks are much better for your child than candy and salty chips.

Helmets
A ruling from the state of Pennsylvania and Pennsylvania Child Welfare Office states that "All children must use helmets when riding on bikes, tricycles, wagons or any other mobile riding equipment.  Please see that your child has his/her helmet immediately in the center, and please remember to write his/her name inside the helmet.  You can purchase helmets at "Toys R Us" or any Sporting Goods Store.  This is a State Regulation!

Regulations for Coverings
When blankets/sheets are sent home on Friday, they must be washed before returning them to school on Monday.  Even if they do not look dirty, they are soiled and full of germs.  All children must have a blanket/sheet or both at all times with names written in permanent marker or a label.  Twin size sheets please, so that we can cover the child when resting.  Children who do not have coverings will not be accepted.  This is also a State Regulation!

Change of Clothing
Every child must have a change of clothing in school at all times.  If one set is sent home because of an accident, please replace the clothing the next day.  Write names on clothing with permanent ink.  Parents will be contacted to pick-up any child who has an accident and who does not have a change of clothing here at the center.

Prescription and Non-Prescription Medications in School
We do not have a Nurse on regular duty, therefore we do not dispense medication of any kind to children of the Center.  Medications can cause dangerous, adverse or allergic reactions if the wrong dosage is given.  Therefore, we cannot assume that responsibility.  If your child has any health problems or is taking prescription medication for any reason, it is important for you to let the Director know who will in turn inform the teachers.

Conduct and Discipline
The purpose of our Center is to educate, build good skills and to assist the children in developing cognitively, socially and physically.  This cannot be accomplished when there are students who disrupt the classroom or create a situation where students, staff or guests feel unsafe.  Children who are constantly misbehaving and being disruptive will be placed in time-out and you as parents will be notified.  Continued misbehavior could result in your child being dismissed from the Center.

Emergency Closing of Schools
When inclement weather makes it necessary to close all Philadelphia Public Schools for a full day, Mt. Airy Baptist Church Center will be closed also.  If the decision is made to close the schools during the day before regular dismissal time, we will begin calling parents, guardians or escorts, letting you know that the Center will close (1) hour after the Philadelphia Public Schools have closed.  When you hear the announcement that schools are closing early (by radio, T.V. or word of mouth), call the Center to let us know who will pick up your child.  That will in turn save us a telephone call.
